Dear Families,
As local news predicts wintry weather starting tomorrow and continuing into the weekend, we want to remind you of our process for communicating any changes to the school schedule. Your child's safety is always our top priority, and we want to ensure everyone is prepared.
How You’ll Be Notified
If a school delay or closing is necessary, we will notify you through the following channels:
- ParentSquare: Our primary communication tool for updates.
- Emergency Notification System: You’ll receive an automated call, text, and/or email to the primary contact number(s) listed in PowerSchool via Parent Square
- District Website and Social Media: Updates will be posted promptly.
- Local Cable TV Stations: Check for announcements.
Important Notes
- Notification calls are typically made no later than 10:00 p.m. the night before or no earlier than 6:00 a.m. the day of.
- If school is canceled, most after-school and evening activities are also canceled, but please check the website for the most current information.
- No Remote Days: We will not be implementing remote instruction on snow days. I strongly value face-to-face, live instruction and understand that remote days can be challenging for many families. Instead, we will have traditional snow days, allowing our students and staff to stay safe at home and return ready to learn in person.
Dress for Winter Weather
Please ensure your children are dressed appropriately for the cold and snowy conditions, including warm coats, hats, gloves, and boots. Whether they’re waiting for the bus or heading outside for recess, it’s important that they are prepared for the weather.
Keeping Your Contact Information Updated
The success of our notification system depends on accurate contact information. If your phone number or email address has recently changed, please contact your child’s school secretary as soon as possible to update your records.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we navigate the winter months. Please stay tuned to ParentSquare and our other communication channels for updates.
Stay safe and warm,
Mr. Michael J. Vuckovich
