Careers in the Classroom: Seeking Presenters

Dear Families,

We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of our "Careers in the Classroom" program at Windber Elementary School! This innovative initiative, held twice a year, aims to inspire our students to dream big and explore a wide range of career paths. By connecting with professionals in various fields, we hope to ignite their curiosity and help them aspire to achieve their goals.

Key Dates:

  • Friday, November 15th
  • Friday, February 7th

On these dates, we will be inviting professionals from high-priority occupations, as identified by the Southern Alleghenies Workforce, to share their experiences with our students. The focus areas include:

  • Education and Training
  • Health and Human Services
  • Architecture, Technology, and Construction
  • Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security

We are particularly eager to incorporate hands-on experiences into these presentations, making the learning process more engaging and memorable for our students.

We need your help! If you or someone you know would be interested in being a presenter for this program, we invite you to participate. Below are some guidelines to help potential presenters prepare:

Presenter Guidelines:

  • Introduction to Your Career: Share what you do, why it's important, and how it impacts the community.
  • Education and Background: Discuss your educational journey, required qualifications, and any relevant experiences.
  • Hands-on Activities: Incorporate interactive, age-appropriate activities to make the session engaging.
  • Q&A Session: Allocate time for students to ask questions and interact with you.
  • Duration: 30-45 minutes per presentation is recommended to fit within typical class schedules.

If you’re interested in participating, please click here to complete a brief survey. This will help us compile a list of individuals and organizations who are willing to be part of our Careers in the Classroom events this year!

We look forward to seeing how this program will inspire our young learners and broaden their understanding of the exciting opportunities ahead!

Warm regards,

Mr. Michael Vuckovich
